My Chosen Idea

I have decided that I would like to photograph a horse owner at work. Within these photos I will highlight the amount of effort a horse owner puts into keeping the much-loved animals. I feel that this would be the best direction as I know little about horses, however I do have an interest in them and would definitely like to learn more and experience what it's like to dedicate yourself to your animals, after all, spending hours upon hours every day with them and caring for them is no easy task.

I aim to show the love and care that needs to be present in order to keep horses, the amount of equipment needed, the horses and their personalities and the techniques used to look after them, in an interesting and creative way. I would ideally like it to have a 'behind the scenes' feel to the project, and so I'd be showing parts of the care that's often seen as undesirable. I will be using a 35mm lens, and i'll be experimenting with different black and white film types.

I have been in contact with a horse owner who lives near my home address, which is preferable as although I do not personally know this woman, I know the area and because of that i'll have more confidence to take the photos as I envision. Additionally, I go home a lot anyway as it's not far from the University and so I wouldn't have to go out of my way and spend more on travel.
