Final Ideas #1

The presentation of work is incredibly important because the way it's shown is the way it will be seen, which can affect how the narrative is seen.

Personally, I currently believe the narrative I want to show is one that allows people to see the hard work, the equipment but also the amount of love that goes into looking after horses, and so getting all of those aspects into my final piece is important to me.

After looking at photographers such as the Bechers and Lorna Simpson, I most definitely would like to present my work in a more formal manner, rather than having it more 'messy'.
This will allow for an audience to take in what's being shown without distraction, and while a more thought provoking display suits some work, I believe horses are very prominent and stark, and so the presentation should match that.

I have come up with a slight plan of how the images could be presented;

With this presentation, I would be able to incorporate three important aspects of owning a horse and three different types of image; the equipment (still life), portraits with the horse (posed portraits) and images of people working with the horses (candid portraits). Therefore, there would be almost three mini typologies within the display.
I feel that three of each is a good idea because it's not too much to look at, she has three horses, and three each way makes for a very aesthetically pleasing display.

Here I have filled in some of the gaps with what I know I'd like to fill them. The portraits in the bottom row work well together as they're both candid and facing towards each other, with makes the display rather easy on the eye.
In my next shoot I'd like to take more portraits and more pictures of reigns/ things hanging on the wooden walls. The portraits are set out that was so the display is natural to the eye and easy to follow; for example the horse is next to the horse in the picture that comes after it, and the person is next to the person in the image previously, which makes it easy to run the eye along.
I'm not sure what i'd like to be in the middle of the working images yet, and so hopefully in the next shoot i'll be able to take a photograph that will fit in nicely.
